Rosé 2013 - Champagne Louis Roederer

2013 was a late vintage.

We had not seen this in Champagne for many years... But good things come to those who wait, and the glorious summer allowed the Pinots noirs and Chardonnays to ripen perfectly. The October harvest gave birth to elegant wines of pronounced freshness and a classic character, perfect qualities with which to craft this powerful and spicy vintage.

A snapshot of a year, this Rosé comes from 35 small staggered plots on the warm terroirs of Cumières planted with Pinot noir, and the cooler limestone soils of Chouilly, where the Chardonnay grows. From these contrasting soils of Domaine Louis Roederer in the Vallée de la Marne (also known as the Vignoble de la Rivière) comes an original rosé, always produced as a vintage champagne. The cellar master has a special destiny in store for it, something unique in Champagne, a long, gentle infusion of the Pinot noir that will enable him to draw out its juicy, ripe character while preserving its tremendous saline freshness.

Aged for at least four years in the cellars, this is a graceful, intense and fresh Rosé Champagne unlike any other.

Tasting notes

Coming from a very fresh vintage, this Rosé 2013 shows all the juiciness of the Pinot noir grapes from the south-facing terroir in Cumières, refined and drawn out by the freshness of the north-facing Chardonnays from Chouilly. freshness, balance and lightness are its attributes, delivered in a lovely satiny package with a hint of salinity.

Tremendous charm!

“ This immediate, seamless combination of substance and freshness sets the tone: balance, length and lightness. ”
Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon,
Cellar Master

Ageing potential

Our champagnes undergo an extended period of ageing to allow them to gently evolve and mature, gaining in structure and depth, whilst developing highly nuanced aromas over the years.

You may enjoy them in the purity and chalky freshness of their youth or, if you appreciate more mature champagnes, wait a few more years or even decades for their candied, spicy notes to emerge. Our champagnes have a long future ahead of them and their destiny is in your hands!
