Cristal Vinothèque 2004 - Champagne Louis Roederer

A classic and very generous vintage that blessed us with both quality and quantity! 2004 was characterised by relatively cool and consistent temperatures throughout the season and a significant lack of rainfall (around 30%)

during the growing cycle in spite of a particularly rainy and cool August. This was fortunately followed by a dry and sunny September which helped the grapes to ripen spectacularly well. On 20 September, as a reward for the intensive work carried out in the Louis Roederer vineyards, the grapes attained the perfect balance between ripeness and freshness, the indication of an outstanding vintage.

Tasting notes

This champagne hails from a generous vintage and expresses its full complexity in a finely concentrated array of flavours.

Exuding white flower, harvest and concentrated citrus notes, the rich, deep nose has a fresh, youthful, almost chalky allure, lifted by smoky and toasted nuances. This remarkable aromatic freshness unfolds in fine, intricate bubbles with a coated and deliciously caressing texture. Cristal’s hallmark saline character and finesse persist right through to the powdery finish, where the subtle bitter notes enhance its gastronomic appeal.

“ This wine embodies the very essence of what Cristal Vinothèque is all about. At 20 years of age, this “Cristal beyond ” reveals all its complexity in a transparent and eternally fresh expression. ”
Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon,
Cellar Master

Ageing potential

Cristal Vinothèque is the ultimate Cristal experience, its finest expression and the culmination of our craft. After two long decades spent meditating, it is finally ready to dazzle you. However, it sees no reason to rush and will happily continue to rest for a few more years or even decades, in a cool, dark cellar with its orange cellophane protecting it from light, until your decide that its time has come...

"Pouring a golden hue, the 2004 Champagne Cristal Vinotheque pushes forward umami elements without going to oxidation. Ripe and pure, it has notes of preserved apricot, nutty pastry, golden citrus, and chalky earth."
