The difficult weather conditions in 2012, the richness of the year's juices and the low yields concentrated the grapes that showed unusual levels of maturity and substance.
This is why the creation of this Brut Nature Rosé champagne was the obvious thing to do.
Originating from 10 hectares of vines growing in the clay soil of the Cumières hillsides and cultivated according to the principles of biodynamics, this "undosed" champagne is the translation of a fresh wine in a sunny year. It resulted from the encounter between the designer Philippe Starck, Louis Roederer CEO Frédéric Rouzaud, and cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, who came up with the idea of creating, together, this wine of the terroir, soil and climate, the perfect illustration of the alliance between Man and Nature.
The grapes come exclusively from the Coteaux de Cumières, Pinots Noirs, Meuniers and Chardonnays picked on the same day and pressed together. A small proportion of the domaine's Pinots Noirs is harvested separately and undergoes a few days “infusion” at a cold temperature and without alcoholic fermentation, before being added to the juices of the Brut Nature Blanc, to create this rosé champagne with a new, pioneering spirit.
Tasting notes
After 6 years ageing in the bottle, Brut Nature Rosé reveals itself in its pure state, “undosed”, in a crisp-cut style, very true to the grape.
You can enjoy it now, paired with a refined, slightly salty cuisine.
This champagne combines its clean, saline flavours with a shimmering appearance and blends floral notes of violets and gentians with roasted and mocha overtones in its spicy bouquet, enlivened by pure fruit and wild raspberries. The Pinot noir expresses itself magnificently, delivering a tight, almost tannic texture, peppered with notes of ripe fruit. This combination of texture and clean flavours paves the way for a slightly smoky, umami-like taste sensation. This is the original rosé, one of softness and intimacy, powdery in its complexion and sparkling in its structure.

Ageing potential
Our champagnes undergo an extended period of ageing to allow them to gently evolve and mature, gaining in structure and depth, whilst developing highly nuanced aromas over the years.
You may enjoy them in the purity and chalky freshness of their youth or, if you appreciate more mature champagnes, wait a few more years or even decades for their candied, spicy notes to emerge. Our champagnes have a long future ahead of them and their destiny is in your hands!
