Rosé 2017 - Champagne Louis Roederer

2017 was a year of living dangerously! An exceptionally warm and dry winter and spring, but the latter brought severe frosts from 17 to 29 April, setting the sorry record for 12 nights of frost.

These were followed by a dull, wet and not particularly hot summer, which ended in an almost tropical (hot and humid) spell at the end of August. This sudden change led to a significant increase in grey rot on the ripening Pinot noir and Meunier grapes. The harvest was fast-paced and completed very quickly demanding very precise and methodical selection work of an unprecedented level even for Roederer.

Tasting notes

This extremely delicate and elegant champagne offers up wonderful aromas of wild berries and citrus with zesty and powdery touches of spice and cedar.

This is an intricate rosé with concentrated fruitiness energised by lovely fresh, iodised flavours. It is a smooth, delectable champagne on the palate, expressing luscious overtones right through to the finish, lending the chalky freshness a pure, saline feel.

“ The softness and freshness of this Rosé 2017 are the result of an "infusion" which concentrated the best of the Pinot noirs from Cumières. ”
Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon,
Cellar Master

Ageing potential

Our champagnes undergo an extended period of ageing to allow them to gently evolve and mature, gaining in structure and depth, whilst developing highly nuanced aromas over the years.

You may enjoy them in the purity and chalky freshness of their youth or, if you appreciate more mature champagnes, wait a few more years or even decades for their candied, spicy notes to emerge. Our champagnes have a long future ahead of them and their destiny is in your hands!

« Vineyards in Cumières, facing the Marne Valley, are the source of this ripe, full and balanced Champagne. The fruit of one year, with an aroma of roses and a rich, vibrant palate, the wine is opulent and full. »
